MM, Cleveland Institute of Music
BM, University of Louisville
Instrument: oboe
Favorite piece of classical music: Strauss' Oboe Concerto. The beginning starts with just a few cello and bass bow strokes, like rays of light peaking over the horizon. When the Oboe solo emerges, it's like a full on sunrise with warmth, beauty, and luxurious solo lines.

DYLAN LLOYD
Education:
BM, Cleveland Institute of Music (2019)
Instrument: cello
Favorite piece of classical music: Anything by Bach. He wrote an endless amount of church music, and was a very devout Christian. I think that Bach tries to paint a picture of heaven in our minds through his music! Bach's music exemplifies how pictorial and powerful music can be.

JON O'BRIEN
Education:
BM, Cleveland Institute of Music (2019)
Musical field: composition
Favorite piece of classical music: Become Ocean, by John Luther Adams. This piece reminds me of my summers as a kid spent on the lake where my Dad grew up. There is something thrilling about the feeling of a massive orchestra barreling towards you like waves. It makes you feel like you are part of the sea or surfing the waves.
Other interests: board games, bowling and watching old TV shows
